Course Overview
Asana
Morning classes will be a mixture of led classes, which will be directly connected to the focus of each days lecture, and self practice, which will your time to explore and integrate what you have learnt in each class. As teachers it is essential that we create and cultivate a self practice in order to truly embody what it is that we hope to transmit, for this reason we give emphasis to providing a space within which to do exactly this. During this time we will be there to support your practice.
Anatomy
Deepen your understanding of functional Anatomy of the spine and explore how bodies move in real life - not just how they look in poses. Explore functional anatomy and principle movements of the the spine to recognise individual variations and adapt alignment for sustainable movement.
Yoga Therapy
The yoga therapy component introduces therapeutic principles and practical modifications for common injuries or limitations. Through movement labs and somatic awareness practices, you’ll learn to use yoga as a tool for healing, nervous system regulation, and mindful self-practice
Hands on Assist
Learn how to listen, feel and communicate with your hands. Asana assists have the potential to help students awaken to new and old sensations in their bodies, as well as refining and reseting their movement patterns. Each day we will review a selection of asanas to establish what the focus should be for each and explore what makes a quality adjustment.
Pranayama
Pranayama is a subtle yet potent and essential component of a well rounded yoga practice. In this training you will develop a personal pranayama practice that you can carry into your day to day life and develop over time.
Bhakti
Devotional chanting brings us into states of connection beyond theoretical analysis. Over the course of the week you will learn a selection of mantras, their historical meanings, and correct pronunciation.
Integration
At the end of each day you will have a mixture of review and reflection questions in order to help you integrate and assimilate the knowledge that has been shared across the day.
